Pass Plus
This is a course especially aimed at newly qualified drivers. Statistics show that newly qualified drivers are at more risk of being involved in an accident than any other driver.
Statistics from the Driving Standards Agency confirm that 20% of new drivers are involved in an accident in their first year of driving, and that new drivers are involved in 25% of all fatal accidents! This is why insurance premiums for new drivers are so high.
Driving alone in a car is very different to driving under the guidance of a professional driving instructor. Pass Plus is a course aimed at substantially reducing these risks. It includes lessons in motorway driving, driving on country lanes, night-time driving and driving in adverse weather. Successful conclusion of the course is recognised by many UK insurers, and could lead to substantial reductions in your motor insurance premiums.
Successfully completing the Pass Plus course should be viewed as an essential part of any driver's training.
Further details are available on the DSA's own pass plus web site: www.passplus.org.uk
Advanced Driving
If you are interested in preparing for an advanced driving test, a course to suit your needs can be arranged. Details of the organisations who certify advanced driving tests such as the Driving Instructors Association(DIA) www.driving.org/diamond.html , the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) www.iam.org.uk , and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) www.rospa.com are available on request
Motorway Driving
If you have never driven on a motorway or have had a bad experience whilst using a motorway, please give us a call and tell us about it. Further supervised driving assistance can be arranged if you are interested
Refresher Training
If you've passed your test but you haven't driven for a while, a refresher course with Weelz could get you back on the road safely. if you've . . .
been involved in an incident
lost your confidence
been
driving overseas
Weelz refresher courses could be just what you need to get back behind the wheel
Using the msm routine
Learn the DSA hazard routine
msm stands for mirror signal manoeuvre . . . the msm routine should be the foundation for everything we do as responsible drivers . . . it's just as important to be aware of what's happening behind you as it is to watch for hazards in front of your vehicle! Make sure you can apply the msm routine in every situation before you apply for your driving test . . . your examiner will be watching closely to make sure that you do!
Remember that the interior mirror is made of flat glass, so it gives a 'true picture' of what's behind you at the correct distance . . . the door mirrors are made of convex glass which makes everything look smaller and further away . . . the things you see in your door mirrors may be much closer to you than you think

The Extended Driving Test
Drive safely and keep your licence
The Extended Driving Test can be imposed by the court on anyone convicted of dangerous driving offences and lasts for approximately one hour and is assessed at the same standard as the normal practical driving test. However, the extra time will give the opportunity for the Examiner to take the candidate into more varied and potentially difficult situations than on the normal test
The candidate will also have to carry out the normal driving test manoeuvres. The DSA recommend that anyone requiring an Extended Test should take some lessons first with an Approved Driving Instructor
The New Drivers Act came into force on 1 June 1997. The Act means that drivers who receive six or more penalty points on their licence, within two years of passing their driving test, will effectively be forced to become learners again
They will have to display 'L' plates once more and be accompanied by a fully qualified driver over the age of 21 who has held a full licence for at least three years until they re-pass both the theory test and practical driving test
The two year 'probationary period' will begin on the day the first driving test is passed. Drivers who already hold a full licence for one category of vehicle will not be affected if they pass a test in an additional category
