Pass Plus is a training course specifically aimed at new drivers, designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry
Pass Plus will build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, and can help you to become more confident on the road

Because some insurance companies take part in the scheme, you could even save a lot of money by getting discounts on your insurance costs

The course is made up of six practical modules which include:

• driving in town
• driving in all weathers
• driving on rural roads
• driving at night
• driving on dual carriageways
• driving on motorways

Anyone who holds a full UK licence is eligible to take part in the scheme. You will not have to take a test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard

New Drivers make up just 10% of licence holders but are involved in 29% of all road accidents. Age is not in itself the problem. The main factor is more simply the lack of driving experience

Pass Plus is a course teaching positive driving skills to help develop your ability to gain this experience in a variety and complexity of road and traffic situations you would possibly not have encountered in getting ready for your practical driving test .... especially motorway driving

In addition to the valuable experience gained and the pointers from your instructor to further developing your skills, a number of insurance companies will give an additional starter bonus to Pass Plus Certificate holders which can result in significant premium reductions for some new and young drivers

Motor insurers that support the Pass Plus scheme may give you a substantial discount on your motor insurance policy
